Dantelina – A Lace Crochet Shawl Pattern

I’m delighted to announce the release of my latest crochet pattern, “Dantelina,” in collaboration with Expression Fiber Arts. This marks our second partnership, and I’m thrilled to share this elegant design with you. You can find the pattern here: https://www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/dantelina.html.

About the “Dantelina” Shawl

“Dantelina,” derived from the Malagasy word for “lace,” embodies the delicate beauty of fine threads woven into intricate patterns. This versatile openwork lace shawl is perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to any outfit. The pattern offers two sizes: a scarf measuring 44 inches by 20 inches (112 cm x 51 cm) and a shawl measuring 95 inches by 37 inches (241 cm x 94 cm), both customizable to suit your preferences.

Yarn Selection

For this design, I selected Expression Fiber Arts’ luxurious Moongleam Fingering yarn, a harmonious blend of 50% cotton and 50% mulberry silk. This 2-ply yarn boasts a soft, silky texture with a subtle sheen, making it ideal for showcasing the intricate lacework of “Dantelina.” The sample features the “Lens Flare” colorway, a gorgeous smoky teal blue that adds depth and elegance to the piece. To recreate the shawl, you’ll need approximately 800 yards (732 meters) of fingering-weight yarn. With a wide range of stunning colorways available in their Moongleam Fingering collection, you can choose the perfect shade to make this shawl uniquely yours

Pattern Details

Designed for the adventurous beginner, “Dantelina” introduces a variety of stitches, including double crochet, picot, and fan stitches. The pattern provides clear instructions and is easily adjustable, allowing you to modify the size to your liking. A US size F (3.75 mm) crochet hook is recommended to achieve the desired gauge.

A Continued Collaboration

Collaborating with Expression Fiber Arts again has been an absolute joy. Their exquisite yarns bring out the best in my designs, and I love seeing how their colors and textures enhance each stitch. I’m excited to see how you bring this pattern to life with your unique touch.

Happy crocheting!

Núverandi – Shawl Pattern

I’m thrilled to announce the release of my latest crochet pattern, “Núverandi,” in collaboration with Expression Fiber Arts! This pattern holds a special place in my heart, as it’s my first design published outside of self-publication. You can find the pattern here: https://www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/nuverandi.html

About the “Núverandi” Shawl

“Núverandi,” meaning “current” or “present” in Icelandic, features rippling, alternating waves reminiscent of water currents. This design serves as a gentle reminder to stay present and mindful of life’s ebb and flow. The shawl measures an impressive 105 inches (267 cm) in length and 18 inches (46 cm) in width when blocked, offering versatile styling options—from a cozy wrap to a stylish scarf or hood.

Yarn Selection

For this project, I chose Expression Fiber Arts’ luxurious CashSilk Sock yarn, a fingering-weight blend that combines the softness of cashmere with the sheen of silk. The sample showcases two stunning colorways: “Rooted” and “Icy.” To recreate this look, you’ll need two skeins of each color, totaling four skeins. If these specific colors aren’t available, any shades from their fingering-weight collection will work beautifully.

Pattern Details

Designed with the adventurous beginner in mind, “Núverandi” offers an opportunity to explore various stitch heights, including double crochet, half double crochet, and treble crochet. The use of half double crochets in the third loop on specific wrong-side rows adds texture, creating an overlapping wave effect. The pattern is easily customizable; you can adjust the length by modifying the beginning chain in multiples of 16 and increase the width by adding more repeats.

A Milestone Achievement

Partnering with Expression Fiber Arts for this release is a dream come true. Their commitment to quality and creativity aligns perfectly with my design philosophy. I’m beyond excited to share “Núverandi” with you and can’t wait to see the beautiful shawls you’ll create.

Happy crocheting!

Tooth Fairy Pillows

I owed my two boys some tooth fairy pillows, so I got to work on these yesterday. The website I got the pattern for these from is not up anymore, so I’ll link to a similar pattern that is free on Ravelry if you want to do something similar: Tooth Amigurumi

This was just a little tooth amigurumi, so I modified it to add a monogramed pocket to the back before stuffing it and sewing it closed. Then the the kids can drop their tooth in there, and the tooth fairy can slip in the gold dollar coin that they bring in our family!

Christmas in July – Visions of Holly

I have spent very little time on the blog over the past few years.  I’ve been lazy and posting more on my Facebook page than actually creating posts here.  I’m going to try to catch up.  I’ll post some items I’ve shared over there during the last few years, and I’ll try to keep current here.

Visions of Holly – Fingering Weight

My last post about my D.C. Yarn actually resulted in a couple different patterns!  The arcade stitch is a beautiful, open stitch. However, it’s not very warm.  So I designed a 3-in-one cowl.  It includes a turtleneck section that is folded inside the arcade stitch section to keep the neck warm.  You can also make the arcade section extra long and use it as a hood!

I then went even further and made two versions of this pattern. The first I did with the amazing Pearlescent Fingering Yarn by Expression Fiber Arts.  The Visions of Holly Cowl and Hood – Fingering Weight requires anywhere from 550 to 1,100 yards of fingering weight yarn.

FB_IMG_1614966618459But Chandi at Expression Fiber Arts also has an incredible Buttery Bulky weight yarn that is even more vibrant in this colorway, and I had to make this pattern in that base as well.  The stitch count needed to be adjusted for the added bulk, so I also released the Visions of Holly Cowl and Hood – Bulky Weight This requires at least 480 to 590 of bulky yarn, though you may want to get even more if you want a really full hood.

The great news is that it really IS Christmas in July, because Chandi has her Holly and Ivy colorway in the Pearlescent Fingering base on sale right now if you want to start getting your Christmas gifts ready!  Pick up the pattern from my Ravely shop, and then head over to Expression Fiber Arts for the yarn!  I really recommend going with two skeins to make the full length cowl.  You won’t regret it!

D.C. Yarn

I spent a week in D.C. for work a few weeks ago.  I made sure to find a local yarn shop to visit one evening, which resulted in this WIP (more on this later).

Picture_20190909_080651655

The LYS I chose to visit was a cozy little loft located North of Dupot Circle, called Looped Yarn Works.  If it was located back home in Kansas City, I’d love to take my crocheting  and some coffee, and hang out on their couch stitching on a quiet afternoon.

Shop

I picked up this cute little lapel pin… PIN

…and this AMAZING yarn!  It is a Heavy Fingering Weight yarn called, get this, Melted Suri.  It is 65% Baby Suri Alpaca, 25% SW Merino, and 10% Silk.  It is absolutely heavenly.  You just want to snuggle it right up to your cheek.  The hand-painted colorway is called Beach Shells.

So back to my WIP… I decide on a cowl for this super soft yarn, and went with the Arcade Stitch.  I worked it up in the round, which went very well with this yarn – you cannot tell where the joins are at all with its web-like texture.  I will finish it up and get a pattern ready for testing!

I’ll leave you today with this fun crocheting picture, which is in the stairwell on the way up to Looped Yarn Works’s shop.  Have a great week!

Summer Fun Water Balloons!

Most of my content consists of crochet patterns for fellow fiber artists. However, for a short time this summer, I am accepting orders for these awesome fun reusable water balloons!

No more filling balloons. No more latex litter in your yard. Just dunk them in some water (like a sponge!), throw them at your friends, and SPLAT!  Then, just dunk them again! Use them over and over again!
(Just like regular water balloons, please don’t throw these at your friends’ faces.)

Fellow crocheters, there are several patterns out there if you wish to make your own. Just Google or check on Pinterest. Please do not use my images though.

8 Balloons + a bucket for those local to me costs $20.
For those not local (Kansas City) I will be glad to drop the bucket, and instead ship just the balloons via first class mail to the continental US for the $20. I accept Cash, PayPal, and Venmo.

Please message me on Facebook Here or email me to order!Baloons Watermarked
